C programming language – basics, introduction and history
Hello friends, welcome to you all once again on your own website. Today I want to tell you about History of C programming language in Computer. So if you want to learn from basic to advance. then today all of you should read this post carefully because today I am going to explain full information about Number System to all of you.
C programming language is a structure oriented programming language, was
developed at the AT &T’s (American Telephone & Telegraph) and
Bell Laboratories USA in 1972 by Dennis Ritchie that is very popular, simple
and simple.
It is a machine-independent, structured programming language that is
widely used in various applications.
C is the native language for writing everything from operating systems
(Windows and more) to complex programs like Oracle Database, Python
commentators, and more.
Languages such as C++/Java are developed from ‘C’. These languages are
widely used in various technologies. Thus, C programming is considered as the
base for other programming languages, that is why it is known as mother
language.
It can be defined by the following ways:
1. Mother language
2. Structured
programming language
3. Mid-level
programming language
4. System programming
language
5. Procedure-oriented
programming language

History
of C language
The base or father of programming languages is ‘ALGOL.’ It was first
introduced in 1960. ‘ALGOL’ was basically used in European countries. ‘ALGOL’
introduced the concept of structured programming to the developer community.
In 1967, a new computer programming language was announced called as
‘BCPL’ which stands for Basic Combined Programming Language. BCPL was designed
and developed by Martin Richards, especially for writing system software. This
was the era of programming languages.
in 1970, a new programming language called ‘B’ was introduced by Ken
Thompson that contained multiple features of ‘BCPL.’ This programming language
was created using UNIX operating system at AT&T ( American Telephone &
Telegraph ) and Bell Laboratories.
Both the ‘BCPL’ and ‘B’ were system programming languages.
In 1972, Dennis Ritchie created a new programming language called ‘C’ at
AT&T and Bell Laboratories. It was created from ‘ALGOL’, ‘BCPL’ and ‘B’
programming languages. so, ‘C’ programming language contains all the
features of these languages and many more additional concepts that make it
unique from other languages.
In 1978, Dennis Ritchie and Brian Kernighan published the first
edition “The C Programming Language” and commonly known as K&R C.
Conclusion
C language was invented for implementing UNIX operating system. Most of
the UNIX components were rewritten in C. Also databases such as Oracle
Database, MySQL and MS SQL Server are at least partially written in C. C is the
basis of many system kernels and driver. Other programming languages, like
Python and Perl, use compilers or interpreters that are written in C.
Today ‘C’ runs under a variety of operating systems and hardware platforms. As it started evolving many different versions of the language were released. At times it became difficult for the developers to keep up with the latest version as the systems were running under the older versions. To assure that ‘C’ language will remain standard, American National Standards Institute (ANSI) defined a commercial standard for ‘C’ language in 1989. Later, it was approved by the International Standards Organization (ISO) in 1990. ‘C’ programming language is also called as ‘ANSI C’.
Today I told you all through this post about History of C programming language .Friends. if you all like this post. then definitely share it with your friends. If there is any confusion. then all of you will tell me in the comments below. I will surely answer each and every comment.
